Hurricane Melissa and The Carbon Neutral Strike

Hi,

I’m Aleya Jobson and I founded fastfrwrd.info, a place where ecology is central and we try to have a good time through ga(-n-)/m/es and gamification or making things into games that usually aren’t.

I now give updates on my attempt to do something without oil, gas or plastic everyday whenever I feel the need to share something. We recently had a storm called Melissa land. I recorded during the storm when I was sure it was audible on October 28, 2025 and went out on October 30, 2025 to discuss the aftermath.

One person did not want to be recorded and we spoke and another allowed me to speak with them and I forgot to get their number due to being flustered by getting through the interview and having completed the task. Hopefully I bump into them.

October 28, 2025:

Tropical storm Melissa is now a category 5 hurricane descended upon us, the biggest since records began.

Experiencing it, it’s windy a(-j-)/n/d bit noisy and persistent rain but not raining buckets and winds no worse than othet storms experienced.

We will see how it carries on.

Next October 30, 2025 I record an interview with a(-na-)nonymous person whose information I forgot to get so I could at least let them listen back to it, I’ll keep an eye out for them though.

We spoke about the storm. We both agreed that we had felt like it would be okay and it turned out to have not been too deadly, resulting mostly in property damage. Then we thought about what would be a just rebuilding and they said they believed everything should be free because “the earth giveth.” This contrary to a theory I posited where I believed perhaps formerly enslaved people would be uncomfortable in gift economies. Of course it turned out fal/s/e because no generalizations can be drawn.

Notably, both people I spoke to both on the record and off believed the weather had been manipula(-g-)/t/ed.

We agreed both on record and off that having decision-making over tax dollars spent is a right. I was unclear in the interview whether he meant we already had this right and I checked online just to be sure. Nothing about the people’s right to decide on tax dollars is codified as far as I know.

It was a fun chat! It is clear that the speaker was concerned about power imbalances and unclear what could (-n-)/a/d could not be done because of that level of inequality. Which is the main takeaway along with other interesting overlaps.

Edit edit: Um, one thing of note, because he said something incredulous with the weather manipulation thing, I became skeptical of other things he said rather than approaching without preconception. I believe if he mean the weather was a consequence of cloud-seeding and other activities like that and the repercussions, he could have a point. Difficult to make assumptions. Would have needed deeper inquiry than we had time for.
