The Carbon Neutral Challenge

Can you go one weekend or two weeks without consuming or making use of oil, gas, plastic or animal byproducts? The Carbon Neutral Challenge was born when founder, Aleya Jobson in March of 2024 tried to see if it was possible to avoid contact with oil, gas and plastic for two weeks.

The effort proved futile and led to the writing of a Carbon Neutral NOW manifesto. It was based on a confluence of suspicions, mental health battles, and all of it was made worse by the fact that the challenge was so near impossible and it was all because of human made error.

The news is now pointing to plastic being in the clouds, evaporating with water. This is an exact description of a dystopia.

In order to really feel it, we encourage you to try the challenge too. Try to avoid oil, gas and plastic for two weeks in any major way, knowing that it is technically impossible at this juncture in history.

After your challenge, you are invited to stay on and help encourage and give tips to other challengers and also to use this space to DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! We are making an exhaustive list of things that include oil, gas and plastic to help take the guesswork out.

Please try out this challenge so that you can understand what we mean when we say Carbon Neutral NOW, the Future Utopia NOW, it’s because we are in a plastic dystopia now and there are no brakes being pumped for an immediate plastic overturn, the Plastic Treaty has been signed but it will still be incremental. Leaders are waiting for it to be cost effective to cut oil and plastic. This cannot go on. This web platform is designed to workshop ways to fast track a just transition. We’ve got a year to make significant advances. Join us.

You can also nominate someone to take the challenge with this message.
