Written by Fastfrwrd has been going through some tweaks and upgrades that are very exciting and even easily actionable! So exciting! We are gearing up to put the site to work in the commmunity and it is very thrilling indeed. Let’s explain all the ways why:
To-Do’s
So we have tried To-Do lists before but these would be To-Dos that were prescribed from on high to the plebs for points. We can definitely do that. But this personal and group To-Do list feature means that you and your community, friends, can be notified of solid steps towards claiming points, tasks that need to be allocated, who does what. We really need the ability to organize properly so this is all about making sure people have the tools they need.

Notes
Speaking of tools. As the Carbon Neutral Strike intensifies to Fastfrwrd and Ecosia and Canva being the main tools allowed, means my copious notes, daily musings, cannot be activated in an app.
While it is not entirely navigable as yet when looking at all notes (at least on the phone) it is still very helpful to have a notes app – especially for playing The Stellar, noting down syntax, character plot points, many opportunities open up with the ability to make notes.

Group Reviews
So! We had as a very early goal to be able to give people an idea of what communities are like for climate resilience before they move. Having the ability to review groups means being able to review communities and share all the ways in which they are safe and secured, insured against the future.
This is also great for providing references about Intentional Communities specifically too if they have their own group and people can share how it was to be in their habitat!

About to Waste +5 Category
This is all about preventing food waste! With food waste, it is known that even if we were to stop all Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions we would still face climate catastrophe due to our food system.
The BBC stated: “One 2020 review found that even if we had stopped burning fossil fuels immediately, humanity still wouldn’t be able to meet the 1.5C limit for global warming set out by the Paris Agreement. Our emissions from food are so high, they alone could tip us over this threshold. At 2C warming, coral reefs are almost extinct – more than 99% are expected to vanish – small islands and coastal communities will disappear, and the Arctic will have an ice-free summer once every 10 years.”https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20220429-the-climate-benefits-of-veganism-and-vegetarianism
It is still in doubt whether users should use the marketplace or their community groups – if the marketplace had a map it would be handy but it is also your home so community groups are the easy starting point and businesses themselves can list on the marketplace to reward ecology as they are used to doing backend inventory so they can help us keep track of industrial and enterprise level food waste prevention. You just have to come get it, basically, list the food, contact the poster in your group or buy it from the marketplace. Go and collect in your area or region for larger waste prevention.

Home Offer/Requests +10 Category
Let’s really get into the houseswapping feature.
It’s not just for travelers but what if someone wanted a rent break, time to garden, and lived in your community, and happpened to have a really great 5 minute commute to your work from their place. You get garden help, a shorter commute, a change of pace, and normal rental prices rather than an expensive hotel or Airbnb.
Say you live with your family to save money but one month you really just need peace and quiet to get some things done. You can get a temporary place, pay their rent, they stay in your room… a lonely old person, they’re there to help with reading bedtime stories, cooking good soup for dinner and getting out of the house without having to get out of the house if you get what I mean. Or they can stay in the room and don’t talk to anyone and use you HBO Max subscription.
Work exchange is a youth-led activity. It assumes a certain ability. This format opens up a lot more possibilities. Housing fluidity. Not just owning a patch on a huuuuuuge rock in space. But having a channel of traversing. It can already start. And these channels become more malleable and granular and mycellic. Housing becomes a shared experience.
I once did Work Exchange at a place called PodShare. They were a hostel that you could go to anyone and stay and basically its a decentralized and kinda subscription based group home.
The Hollywood one I was at had bedbugs. High traffic hostels are not the answer.
Slow travel, learning new environments, this enriches the climate repair process. You literally learn about environments, considerations. What changes, what doesn’t.
And if you are playing and using Fastfrwrd along the way, then you are doing climate repair and being rewarded for it based on the new things you learn in each new place.
With the benefit of offering your home being that you get points, you can offer your place as many times a year as you like to see if someone needs something and if you are a match! Letting people know there are options means they can feel a sense of security. Knowing if they fall on hard times, as we all can, there is another safety net just in case others don’t work.
This is a building project. So work exchange is very much encouraged. And the work exchanger will get points for their work. But please note that it is not always quid pro quo. You can also just give. Or just receive. Yes, some of us need to know it’s ok to receive.
Not finding good sources on the ways in which travel can increase environmentalist sentiment but that is what happened to me. I traveled and kept seeing different environmental damages.
