Things are happening! We are currently programming our game app prototype in Unity! We prefer Opensource but given the restrictions of the Carbon Neutral Strike, and the need for a swift prototype, the best tools available were chosen for a swift prototype/MVP.
However, we still have a gap of knowledge required to finalize this prototype/MVP. We have Udemy accounts with Unity coding courses and also a Unity C# course that is free but done with videos. The Udemy course is 7 hours long, while the Unity C# course is about 37 hours long. That’s 44 hours all together.
I have also yet to compensate my laptop usage which allows Fastfrwrd to be managed.
According to Green.ly, 55g of CO₂e is emitted per hour of streaming and: “The Carbon Trust’s estimate of 55g CO₂e per hour of streaming is based on the operational electricity use of key infrastructure components.”
That means all together the courses would cost 2.42 kg CO₂e. Each tree planted absorbs 10kg CO₂ per annum according to One Tree Planted: “the average tree absorbs an average of 10 kilograms, or 22 pounds, of carbon dioxide per year for the first 20 years.”
The average laptop overall is responsible for 331kg CO2 emissions during the first 4 years of its life. 331kg divided by 10 kg is 33.1 trees required to absorb the emissions of the laptop for 4 years. Calculated by: Circular Computing.
Let’s round it up to 34 trees. At $0.35 USD a pop through our Tree Planting Partner Trees.org would cost: $11.9
We also owe two trees from before.
That brings us to $12.60 USD that we owe to be paid asap. We’ll post the receipt in the October update!
