Food MD Augmented Reality and “Versus” Mode

Fastfrwrd Games (Group for Game-Makers)’s Docs Food MD Augmented Reality and “Versus” Mode

The Opening Screen: Cartoony, bright and fun colours, horn-based music, and confetti.

PLAY: Solo or Versus

Solo

Solo play, you can scan your ingredients for a recipe suggestion and providing points for its ecological qualities, added to your Fastfrwrd account, or to tally the points for a meal you plan to prepare and earn points for its local and ecological benefits. Solo mode has the same mechanic as “Zombies, Run!” It leads to an audio-based drama as you cook a meal to heal your patient. You have three choices while playing, and game dramas (which site participants can make too and send in through a form) are 10, 15 and 25 minutes long in general.

The audio drama leads to a patient-healing mini-game if the cooking wait time is longer than the audio drama.

Versus Mode

You can ‘Look for Game’ or ‘Look for Date’ and there are two types: Immediate Game where you cookoff against an opponent, trying to make the most eco meal, scanning and verifying ingredients while having a dinner discussion topic suggestion if you need it.

You can also have an ‘Iron Chef’ style game that is scheduled and based off a randomly generated base ingredient you and your future cookoff partner will agree on, go shopping and come home to play against each other. You can update your cook-off partner/date to let them know if you’re running late or if you have to cancel.

You are on video phone during a “Versus Mode” cookoff, and have a game UI to interact with verifying ingredient ecology, the option to submit your recipe to Fastfrwrd to be added to our recipe list.

Any information given is voluntary and most data is processed ephemerally and not saved. Instead, surveys are available at the end of the game while points are tallied and we are able to keep information for study on local food systems around the world.

UI includes: Bio info of your interlocutor, mic mute button and unmute, a magnifying glass for if you want to challenge a player’s ingredients, if you are unsure if the ingredient is truly green, you can simply disqualify the data from being submitted. A speech bubble with a question mark for discussion topic suggestions. A chat feature is also there in case you have mic issues or if cooking is too loud. A paper airplane to send your recipe to Fastfrwrd.

For Versus, we may be able to use Crewdle Connect for their green video phone services, customized to our needs.
